I’ve always been a wildling. I inherit the genes from my mom. We’ve always been those crazy adventurous souls that need to do something radically exciting.

So one random day, now this is a year or so ago… we decide to start growing our own veggies and farming.. well sort of. Now we’re veryy urban. We’re all doctors. But you know what, we love the outdoors. We’ve always grown plants but this is a whole different ball game. The idea of growing my own veggies has always been very exciting to me. Getting into preventive health has made me all the more aware and alsooo the flavours! Clean, ethically grown and organic. We can’t get luckier now can we? Touchwood.

And so it begins… I get into the spirit of Alice Waters to bring my farm to fork dreams to life. Lots of research and reading books. We get a bunch of seeds online that we decide to plant… and to our very pleasant surprise they allll sprout! I’ve been very fascinated by salads, chillies and heirloom tomatoes. And so that takes up a large number of rows.

Now it’s been a journey trying to teach the locals how to grow organically, but it’s a learning! For them and for us.

A few months down the line, after lots of experimenting and travelling up and down. We’ve got a bumper harvest!

It’s soo exciting to see the produce growing, tomatoes growing to their full size, cabbages filling the beds, pumpkins growing above my head and chillies in all colours and shapes dangle away to glory … I’m just in Love!

The idea of eating whole, fresh, organic is just a dream but being able to know where your food comes from makes such a difference! The value of this to me, is insurmountable. Our car boot seems to overflow with veggies. Now of course we didn’t have a sense of judgment of just how many veggies would grow *Guilty* And so we’re sending bags of salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumbers et al to all our friends to enjoy! Because produce is meant to be share no? The farm has slowly become my place of peace. A place I go to, to feel the wind play with my hair and a place where I forget everything.

Now what’s a sit spot? I read about this somewhere and it’s the cutest thing. I found mine and it’s become my go to spot in the farm.

Find a spot in nature, either a rock or a tree bark or something. A place where you go to be more aware of nature. It expands your sensory awareness and helps you build a mindfulness routine.

My sitspot is a tree bark under a large tamarind tree. I sit there and snack on some tamarind (when in season).

Every time I’m at the farm, I’m transported to a place of peace. You’ve definitely had the mindfulness wind bow past you, but have you ever wondered what it is?

It’s more than just a wind isn’t it? It’s this sense of deep calm, of being rooted in yourself. Of not allowing your brain to control you but rather you being the master of it. The green just brings that sense of calm to me. This is a place i can completely switch off my brain while the happy hormones bubble away!

Now long drives or boat rides … need the perfect playlists. Of course I’m inspired by James Corden of The Late Late Show… it’s my favorite segment on the show. Also the name is just sooo… apt! I told you I’m. Wildling!

We’re always those idiots loudly belting out tunes while in the car. I turn into a famous pop star when I’m in the car and I sing unabashedly. It’s my sort of safe space where I actually hit my high notes with ease and I’m just happy?

So here’s a playlist that’ll hopefully turn you into a virtual pop star and sing! Unabashedly! It’s fun and perfect for a morning drive outside the city. Its light and fills the air with some whimsy!

Hope you’re enjoying Dollop as much as I’m enjoying writing it for you.
